Ponies out in force at Causeway Coast Arena Autumn Hallowe’en Show

IT was a dry but chilly morning for the Causeway Coast Arena Hallowe’en show on Sunday, but the ponies were out in force with super entries. An inviting course, designed by William Brown, was set in the indoor arena and the cross-pole riders kicked off the day.

Lynda Moore was given the difficult task of picking the best Fancy Dress, with prizes sponsored by Liz Brown’s Sweet Sensations. Bella Deeney with her pony ‘Amber’ won the best Fancy Dress in the cross-poles class, a very difficult decision as the costumes were fantastic!

Grace McAuley rode a lovely double clear with her pony ‘Konnie’ in the cross-poles and was the only clear in the 30/40cm class and, to top it off, she also won the best Fancy Dress! Aoife McGarry with ‘Max a Million’ and Darcy McMichael with ‘Sparkles’ won the best Fancy Dress prize in the 50cm class, as well as riding double clears.

The McCafferty sisters were on form, with Eva and Grace both riding double clears in the 50cm class. Eva McCafferty went on to claim another double clear in the 60cm class on her pony ‘Garfield’. Aoife Milliken and ‘Beauty’ also rode double clears in both the 50cm and 60cm classes.

Caitlin McFadden and ‘Starry’ jumped double clear in the 60cm class and claimed the best fancy-prize. Chloe Beacham and ‘Crème Brulee’ were the only double clear in the 70cm class and Tianna Doherty took the top spot in the 80cm class.

Rachel Hall and ‘Tillie’ rode the first double clear in the horse section, with a lovely round in the 60cm class. Deborah Duddy and ‘Dorie’ rode one of only two double clears in the 70cm class, also taking the best Fancy Dress prize.

Helen Forgrave and ‘Chance’ rode two lovely double clears in the 70cm and 80cm classes.

The 80cm class Fancy Dress winner Dawn McAllister with ‘Farrah’ were also double clear. Geoffrey Glass and ‘Ollie’ were on top form, with double clears in both the 1m and 1.10m classes.

All proceeds from the show go to RDA Causeway Coast and Glens. The organisers would like to thank everyone who helped prior to and on the day of the show; as well as Liz Brown’s Sweet Sensations and Colin Richmond of Richmond Country Store for the prizes.

The next event at the arena will be the ‘Very Early Christmas’ Dressage Show on November 7. A show jumping league will run from November 14, culminating in a Christmas Show and league final on December 19. All entries are online at www. causewaycoast
