The next few weeks is an exciting time for poultry enthusiasts here with a number of events planned before the start of the autumn/winter poultry show season.
This year’s Balmoral Show, which is on from Wednesday, September 22, until Saturday, September 25, has over 700 entries in the poultry section, which will be on display until the Friday. There will then be an exhibition of poultry on the Saturday.
The Banbridge Show and Poultry Auction is on Saturday, October 2, at the Belmont House Hotel, Rathfriland Road, Banbridge.
All entries must be made to the hotel by Wednesday, September 22.
The auction team is hoping to produce a catalogue for the auction. So far there is very keen interest in this auction, especially when a number of poultry events that would usually be happening at this time of the year have sadly been cancelled.
Besides this being an auction of poultry, waterfowl, aviary birds, rabbits and cavies, the poultry will be judged on morning before the auction commences at midday.
So far as I am aware a number of top exhibitors have entered birds in this event.
Going by the standard of some birds that were at Davy Kerr’s poultry fair at Kircubbin, there are likely to be some awesome birds to be bid on at this event.
I am so pleased and excited that this show and auction is going ahead as it will be a great opportunity to look around quality birds and hopefully bid and obtain new stock.
This event is definitely one for your diary and I would like to thank the organisers for going that extra mile in running this.
If you are considering entering stock in this auction I have included copies of the schedule and entry form – but remember the cut off date for entries is September 22.
Hope to see you all there.
n Finally, I’ve just learnt that there will be a poultry fair at the Belmont House Hotel, Rathfriland Road, Banbridge, on Saturday, October 30.
