THERE have been a few tractor runs this year, especially amongst our Young Farmers’ Clubs, but it was the more vintage variety for the event organised by the Traction Engine Club of Ulster – strictly for pre-1976 tractors.
With weather conditions perfect, the run attracted a good turnout of 82 tractors.
After assembling at Killymurris Presbyterian Church, Glarryford, the roadrunners went along the Dunminning, Station, Kildowney roads, Kildowney Hill, Ballywatermoy, Dunminning roads before stopping for refreshments at Duneion Road.
From there it was on the Carclinty, Aghiull, Millan, Glenbuck, Bridge, Killagan, Duneaney roads, before returning to Killymurris Presbyterian Church.
Chairman of the Traction Engine Club of Ulster, John Steele (who hosted the half-way break), expressed thanks to any members who took part and helped out, Killymurris Presbyterian Church for the use of its car park, all those who took part and everyone who helped in any way to make the event a resounding success.
