IN the midst of the commercial breeding heifer season, all eyes are on the forthcoming sale to be staged on behalf of Charlie and Martin Tumilty at Markethill Mart on Thursday, October 27, 7pm.
Fifty eye-catching heifers have been spec-ially sourced for this event, which follows on from a successful sale in 2021.
Martin said: “We frequently meet buyers from last year’s sale who are quick to tell us how pleased they are with their heifers and that their calves have excelled for them. This has been backed up by recent suckled calf sales where we have seen some of the progeny of our 2021 sale heifers attract strong returns in the sale ring.”
Tumiltys’ heifers for sale on October 27 have been hand-picked, and then matched with proven AI Limousin bulls to maximise the potential of the calf.
Martin has spent considerable time working alongside Dovea genetics choosing proven bulls from its stud, including EBY, Ivor and Marco. The first batch of heifers is due to calve in November with the bulk of the sale heifers calving between then and January.
Attention to detail is always to the fore with the Tumiltys, including management, with all sale heifers having been vaccinated for Lepto, BVD and Blackleg.
With the emphasis in every farm business now on quality, efficiency and low input systems, there never has been a better time to invest in your suckler enterprise with top class beef bred replacements with AI calves in utero.
For many producers they now recognise that buying in-calf heifers from a trusted source is much more cost effective than breeding and rearing their own.
The beauty of buying is that they can be selected with focal points such as calving dates readily available to tighten up calving patterns. It also lengthens the time that producers can use their existing stock bull without having to consider that his daughters may be in the herd.
While there are some flashy heifers in the sale, Martin is keen to point out that there are heifers included in the auction to suit absolutely every suckler system.
A warm welcome is extended to all on Thursday, October 27, to Markethill Mart, with the sale kicking off at 7pm sharp. For those unable to attend in person bidding is also available on marteye.ie
