A VERY sunny Saturday saw the 150th Newry Show welcome a record number of cattle and sheep entries, with both enjoying a significant increase on the previous year.

As the sun shone down on competitors and spectators alike, it was a day to remember for the Wilson family from Newry who scooped the top accolade in the Beef Interbreed Championship with their Charolais bull while reserve place went to Moneymore man Robert Miller.

Native breed champion on the day was Duncan McDowell from Newtownards and his beef Shorthorn heifer while the Dairy Interbreed Champion title went to the Magowan family from Rathfriland and their champion Holstein.

In the sheep rings meanwhile, Naomi Ardis from Hilltown was delighted to take home the Sheep Interbreed title with her champion Texel ewe.
