THE Life Beyond Programme, delivered by Rural Support in partnership with Em-brace FARM, provides a unique combination of ber-
eavement support, specifically tail-ored to the needs of the farm family.
The aim of the programme is to improve the mental, social, and physical wellbeing of farm families who have experienced loss, as well as provide support for the farming enterprise.
Services are all provided at no cost to the farming family.
As part of the programme an annual gathering takes place and this year sees Rural Support hosting the second year of this special event.
The event is planned for Sunday, October 23, in the Glenavon Hotel, Cookstown, at 2.30pm.
The Life Beyond Celebration Event is aimed at those who have lost a loved one, recently or in the past, to come together and celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with them.
The Life Beyond Celebration gathering will be a way to support those who are navigating their way through grief and will provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with others who have experienced loss, to reflect and reminisce, and to honour the contributions made to the lives, land and agricultural community by loved ones who have passed away.
Throughout the celebration those attending will be able to participate in the Remembering and Honouring our Loved Ones section through The Tree of Life Ceremony and Moments of Reflection and Reminiscence.
Veronica Morris, CEO, commented:
“When the worst happens in a farming family it is often not only about dealing with the shock, sadness and sometimes trauma that comes from losing a loved one.
“It can mean trying to deal with practical issues relating to the farm business in the middle of unbearable grief. Also, once the initial weeks and months have passed after a death, and neighbours and extended family have had to get back to their own lives, it can be very difficult for a farming family to move forward.
“The Life Beyond programme provides the practical and emot-ional support to help families to navigate their experience – both personally and farm business related – no matter how difficult that might be.
“This celebration event allows us all to come together to remember the lives that have been lost and celebrate in them. Last year’s event was a beautiful day where families, friends and staff of Rural Support and Life Beyond had the chance to reflect, reminisce and remember those who are no longer with us and celebrate the life they lived.
“This year we look forward to welcoming all the families and friends we have been working with through Life Beyond and celebrating the lives of their loved ones.”
All who have experienced loss within the farming community are welcome to attend and light refreshments will be served.
