Salt lick spectacular at Gransha

COMPETITORS at Gransha Equestrian Centre, Bangor were in for a real treat last Saturday, as Wilson Salt presented prize winners with huge salt licks for their horses.

This company has come on board as sponsors for the Dressage and Combined Training League, which runs from now until Christmas.

The winning combination in each class at each of the three qualifying rounds receives a large Himalayan Salt Lick courtesy of Wilson Salt.

The team at Gransha work closely with leading feed company ‘TopSpec’. All of their literature state that every horse should have access to clean water and a salt lick at all times. As salt is a vital mineral in the horses diet, organisers are delighted to have Wilson Salt offering this great product to the lucky prize winners at all of the qualifying shows as well the final.

Getting the day off to a great start was Emma Wallace and her versatile mare ‘Killy’, as they won the Senior Novice class. Taking second place was Megan Hamill and ‘Chesterfield Rock Power’.

Amy Harvey rode to victory in the Young Horse class with ‘Indian Robe’. ‘Dynasty’ and Sharon Power claimed victory in the combined training section of Prelim 1. Jill Banford and ‘Slemish Cavalier Two Step’ were second, while Rosie Paterson and ‘Homegrown Rolex’ took third.

In the dressage only section, Amanda McVeigh took the win riding ‘Milly’, just ahead of Simone Edwards and ‘Lulu’.

Karen Carnduff and her attractive chestnut mare ‘Lippy’ were head of the pack in the Senior Prelim 1 combined training class. Keren Martin and ‘Tia Maria’ claimed second position, while third place went to Jenny Bell and ‘Callum’.

In the dressage only section, Megan Hamill and ‘Next Venture’ took the win, ahead of Clare Adair and ‘Dot’, who had to settle for second and Lara McRobb and ‘Cheska’ who took third.

Best of the juniors was Shana Martin and ‘Bob’, who took the win in the Prelim 15 combined training class. Another pony rider producing the goods was Eva McGimpsey on the pretty skewbald gelding ‘Rex’. This pair recorded two wins in the Prelim and Intro dressage only classes.
