Search begins for top Limousin herd

THE objective of the Limousin Pedigree Herd Competition is to find, in the opinion of the recognised judge, the best pedigree Limousin herds and individual pedigree Limousin animals owned and managed by NI Limousin Cattle Club members.

This year’s competition will be judged by Stephen Irvine from the Anside Herd, Banff, Scotland and judging will take place between August 12-15.

Bank of Ireland have very kindly agreed to continue their sponsorship of this competition and entry forms and rules have been sent to Club members.

This year’s competition had been revised and entries will be accepted for the Herd Groups; Ex Small, Small, Medium, Large and additional categories or individual animals may be entered for the additional categories only; Best Group of Calves born in the year of the competition, Best Group of Calves born in the year of the competition by a stock bull, Best Cow Family – to include mother, daughters, and granddaughters, Best Cow with Calf at Foot, Best Young Bull born in 2018, Best Young Bull born in 2019, Best Home Bred Heifer born in 2018, Best Home Bred Heifer born in 2019, Best Stock Bull and Best Newcomer Herd.

Announcement of results and presentation of plaques and shields will take place at the Club’s annual prize giving and dinner dance in the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim on Saturday November 23.
