Senior Hereford calves take the honours in Dungannon

n Senior and Supreme Female Champion Solpoll 1 Starlet S4, from John and William McMordie, Ballygowan.

THE annual NIHBA Un-ited Feeds Calf show

at Dungannon Farmers’ Market took place on Saturday, November 9, with Richard Jackson, owner of the Lancashire based Eveter herd, judging a good entry of 50 calves from 15 exhibitors.

n Reserve Supreme and Reserve Senior Male Champion Solpoll 1 Samson, from Solpoll Herd of John and William McMordie. :

Taking the Senior and Supreme Male Championship was the September born Richmount 1 Skyfall. Bred by James Graham, this Grousehallpoll 1 Premier son has already had a successful show career having taken the Calf Champion trophy at the National Show in the summer and NI Reserve Bull of the year title for 2019.

Following through from the

same class all the way to Reserve Male Champion was Solpoll 1 Samson, a Solpoll 1 Dynamite son bred by John & William McMordie. Samson also was half of the first prize winning pair of calves. The Junior Male Champion also came from the McMordies with Solpoll 1 Superstar taking the honours. This January born Remitall Superduty son was on his show debut.

Reserve Junior Male Champ-ion was one of the youngest calves forward, born in June, Lisrace Loyalist 23rd is a son of Knockmountagh Master from David Wilson. Another bull calf by the same sire won class 2 for David Wilson in the shape of Lisrace Loneranger 5th, born last December. The other bull class was won by Raymond & Stuart Pogue with Tullymore 1 Quantum. Born in April, he was a son of Kilsunny Goliath.

Supreme and Senior Female Champion went to J & W McMordie with Solpoll 1 Starlet S4. A September born daughter of Moeskaer Upgrade, she is the same way bred as last year’s Male Champion.

The youngest female on show took the Junior and Reserve Female Champion, the May born daughter of Moyclare Norman, Benaughlin Emma for G & W Burleigh

Reserve Senior Female Champ-ion was Graceland 1 Sally, a September born Graceland 1 Patrick daughter from Robin Irvine. Brian Mawhinney took first prize in the other Senior Female Class with Holestone 1 Ravette, a daughter of Dorepoll 1 Patriot born in December.

Marcus Murdock took Reserve Junior Female Champion with the April born Lisnaree 1 Sundae, a Solpoll 1 Kentucky Kid daughter. The remaining female class was won by Richmount 1 Salamanca, an-other Grousehallpoll 1 Premier daughter for James Graham, born in January.

The title of Champion Young Handler was won by Bradley Graham from the Richmount Herd. Reserve Champion Yo-ung Handler was Owen Gill, Killinchy, County Down.
