Seven in a row for Hampshire Down breeder

MAGNIFICENT: Winning the Balmoral Hampshire Down breed title kicked off a successful showing season for Sean Doyle.

HAMPSHIRE Down sheep breeder Sean Doyle of Ballyward finished his season of showing on a high at Clogher Valley show when he took his seventh breed champion of the year, also winning Native breed champion and overall Interbreed champion.

Sean has been showing a shearling ram this season which he has bred himself. The ram, sired by Ashley Black Jack and from a homebred Loughbrea ewe sired by Rademon Pepsie, has seen great success in the show ring all season.

Sean and his ram have taken breed champion at Balmoral Royal Ulster show, Ballymoney show, Armagh National show, Ballymena show, Castlewellen show, Saintfield show and lastly Clogher Valley show – seven breed championships in a row.

The Royal Ulster show was the starting point of his show season success in 2018, with his ram winning breed champion, but also being awarded second reserve interbreed champion.

o This was Sean’s first Royal Ulster championship, and he definitely continued the celebrations throughout the showing season, finishing on a

high.
