Show jumping league final extravaganza at Hagans Croft

SATURDAY, June 5 saw the final of Hagans Croft’s six-week Sp-ring Back to Show jumping league. The

league was very well supported throughout and Saturday was no different. Everyone was welcome to compete, even if not qualified for the league, as a separate prize giving took place for those competing on the day and those qualified for league prizes.

It was prizes galore in the cross-poles class, as everyone received ribbons and prizes on the day for all their efforts. These are the stars of the future!

Maisie Elliott had a triple celebration on Saturday, as not only did she place first in the 50cm class on the day, she and ‘Moonlight’ went on to win the overall 50cm league! And, to top it all off, it was her 10th birthday! Celebrations all round in the Elliott household – well done!

Before the 60cm class started, Kristina Hayes walk-ed the course and talked about how she and her borrowed mount ‘Cadi’ were going to try and take the turns over the timed section of the course – fences nine to 12. Everyone watched in anticipation to see whether she could execute her plan and that she did, in a time of 21.7 seconds, taking the red rosette on the day. The 60cm league placings were very tight between first and second placings, however, Charlie Watson and ‘Master Casper Boy’ tipped Rebecca Belshaw and ‘Mr Reba’ to

the top spot by one point overall.

Charlotte Nelson and ‘Reg-gie’ rose to the occasion and brought their show jumping A-game – not only did the pair place first in the 70cm and 80cm classes on the day, but they went on to win the overall 70cm league, coming home with a beautifully em-

broidered Hagans Croft cool-er rug for all their efforts. There was no denying Charlotte was absolutely de-

lighted with the pair’s achievement, with ‘Reggie’ getting a massive pat for all his hard work too!

Zara Smyth and ‘Charlie’ had the 80cm league in the bag as five weeks out of six they came home with red ribbons, therefore they were most deserving of the embroidered Hagans Croft rug they took home for all their efforts.

Katie McKee, the winner of Hagans Croft’s Tik Tok challenge, finished in second place within the 80cm league, bringing home a beautifully embroidered Hagans Croft numnah.

In the 90cm class, Charley Hanna and ‘Crystal’ were back on form to win the class on the day and place second within the league. First place in the league went to Mia Dickson and ‘Rafa’, who also won the 1m class league.

Thank you to everyone who supported the show jumping league throughout, Hagans Croft are delighted to be back up and running and hope to see everyone again, as they get set to commence their four-week Working Hunter league on Saturday, June 12. Thanks are extended to judge Katy Saunders and to all the stewards, who make the event run so smoothly.
