THE third and final week of show jumping at Lusk’s was on Sunday, June 12. The 40cm and 60cm classes saw all the riders improving – those who were assisted the previous week were now riding on their own.
The 70cm class gave the crowd great excitement, as the second round was against the clock, with supporters cheering on the competitors, but yet again it was Martha McMurray on ‘Willow’, who showed everyone how quickly the turns could be done.
Alex Picton-Lynas was the hero in the 80cm class with Denise Neil’s ‘Romeo’ from the riding school jumping two fine clear rounds.
The 90cm, the most popular class of the day, again got a favourite result with Aimee Webb on her own ‘Indie’, representing Lusk’s Liveries, going round in a blistering time and leaving all the fences up to win the class.
The 1m class was won by Josh Knox on ‘Let’s Get Down to Business’, who was last to go and the roars of the supporters showed everyone what a popular winner he was!
Lusk’s are having a change of tactics on Sunday, June 19, with a Derby on grass to simulate the Hickstead Derby. There will be special emphasis on the 40cm class, which can be assisted or non-assisted, to encourage all the younger competitors.
