Abernethy Butter, Northern Ireland’s award winning butter maker, has launched an innovative flavoured butter.
The latest handmade product in the Abernethy range of premium butters is a chipotle chilli and smoked paprika.
It joins a successful range that also includes smoked butter and others made with black garlic and dulse.
The small company, which is based at Dromara in County Down and was founded by Will and Allison Abernethy, has extensive business in Britain for its butters and has won acclaim from celebrity food experts, including Nigella Lawson, Heston Blumenthal, Marcus Wareing and James Martin.
Nigella Lawson recently named the company’s dulse as her favourite flavoured butter.
High-end retail customers for the company’s butters include Fortnum and Mason (F&M), the iconic department store in London’s Piccadilly, and Whole Foods, also in London.
Abernethy has also produced a novel range of flavoured butters for F&M’s prestigious food hall.
Abernethy butters featuring under the F&M brand are Smoky Chipotle, Date and Rum, and Miso and Seaweed along with salted and non-salted varieties.
The Northern Ireland artisan company was approached by F&M about developing the butters.
The company, formed in 2005, has won a string of UK Great Taste and other awards for its butters.
