SEVEN members from Killultagh Branch of the Pony Club travelled to the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre in Selkirk, Scotland to compete in the 2019 Pony Club Regional Championships. After an early start for the boat on Thursday, they arrived around lunchtime to set up camp and settle their ponies before competition started the following day.
Friday saw the Championship Dressage and the standard was high, with over 30 competitors in each of the four arenas and 24 teams competing. Killultagh fielded two teams. The Killultagh Gold Team (Hollie Fitzpatrick, Niamh Fitzpatrick, Anna McErlean and Enna McGreevy) finished in 10th place, with Hollie Fitzpatrick taking individual sixth in Arena A, and Anna McErlean taking individual third in Arena C.
The Killultagh Green team (Emma Stewart, Megan McCambridge, Niamh Fitzpatrick and Rebekah McKinstry), who were all first timers at this event, all rode great tests, showing lots of promise for the future.
On Saturday, it was the turn of the eventers and the Killultagh team of Rebekah McKinstry, Anna McErlean and Niamh Fitzpatrick riding her two ponies held their own to finish an impressive third in a field of 21 teams. Anna also finished first out of the 31 competitors in her arena.
Special thanks go to Killultagh District Commissioner, Noreen Fitzpatrick for all her hard work in getting the teams to this event.
