As the evenings draw in and the ram sales draw to a close, members of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society are already turning their attention to next year’s lamb crop.
Particularly in focus is the branch In Lamb Ewe Sale to be held at Ballymena Livestock Mart on Monday evening, November 12.
“Northern Ireland breeders are to the fore in Suffolk breeding genetics UK wide and the sale provides the opportunity to purchase those genetics on your doorstep,” says Branch Chairman Joe Stewart as he looks forward to the sale.
“On the 12th my members will be offering ewes from the top flocks in N Ireland scanned in lamb and inspected in accordance with society breed standard so prospective purchasers can buy with confidence.
“Last year’s sale was a flyer and based on the Suffolk sales performance this year I am confident this year’s sale will be a repeat performance.
“So whether you are thinking of starting a flock or adding to your existing flock, Ballymena is the place to be on the evening of the 12th.”
Flocks offering ewes for sale include Blackbrae, Forkins, Leitrim, Kinbally, Tullwinney, Moylarg and Straidrock.
