Summer league at Ardnacashel

ARDNACASHEL Equestrian, Comber saw the second week of their Summer Show Jumping League on Sunday. The event went without any incidents, with a busy schedule starting at cross-poles up to 1.10m. The weather reports were threatening thunderstorms and an amber warning, but thankfully it was mainly sunny – albeit a little windy! There were many positive comments from the riders on the wonderful flow of the course.

It was clear all the way for competitors in the cross-poles and 60cm classes. It was a successful day for competitor Grainne Baxter riding ‘Splash’, the pair travelled from Rostrevor on their first visit to Ardnacashel and commented on how enjoyable the course was, even attempting their first ever 1.10m class and claimed first place!

Another competitor on their first visit to Ardnacashel was Erica Ingram, who jumped a clear round in the 60cm class, thoroughly enjoying their trip!

A new and fantastic class in this league ‘Riders Over 40 – 85cm’ is gaining popularity, with two riders this week: Kim Dunn on ‘Oreo’, who placed first and Michelle McConnell on ‘Flo’, who placed second. Very well done to Rachel Carnduff and ‘Tucker’ on placing first in the 70cm Senior class, a local competitor based at Ardnacashel.

This Sunday, July 11 will be the second Connemara and Irish Draught Championship, which is a great opportunity to bring those beautiful native breeds up to their full potential. For more information or to enter, visit www.ardnacashelequestrian.co.uk

Another Show Jumping Training Evening will be held on Wednesday, July 14, with the Summer Show Jumping League continuing on Sunday, July 18.
