WHAT more would anyone want on a Saturday…? Horses, sunshine, relaxed friendly competition and the chance to win some money! Ardnacashel Equestrian in Comber had them all on Saturday, May 28 with their Cash Jumping.
With classes from 50cm up to 1.10m over a flowing course, riders were competing for a share of the entry fees – the higher the place, the more the prize fund!
In the smaller classes, clear rounds took a share of the pot and starting with the 50cm class, Jocelyn Willis and ‘Sam’ were the only clear round and were delighted with their ‘winner takes all’ round!
In the 60cm class, Karina McVeigh on ‘Coco’ was the lucky winner of the class.
Moving up to the 70cm and higher classes, competitors jumped over the full course with a timed element from fence 8. This brought out fierce competition and some amazing speed turns in an effort to take first place. The 70cm Junior class was won by Harley McKeag on ‘Shadow’ in the super time of 26.32 seconds. In the 70cm Senior class, Iona McCreery on ‘Seamus’ were the lucky winners.
Moving up to the 80cm Senior class, a regular speed demon at Ardnacashel, Suzanne Davis on ‘Haydens Star’ took first place in 20.62 seconds, a time that just couldn’t be beaten by the five other clear rounds in the class.
The 90cm class was again hotly contested, with the ultimate winner Claire Ireland on ‘Goin for Gold’ taking home £20 as her share of the prize pot. Megan Carson was the lucky winner in the 1m class on ‘Fair and Square’, with Emma Jackson on ‘Vogue’ taking first place in the 1.10m class.
