The line-up for this year’s Flax Mill Yard Fest, being held on Saturday, September 14, is a guarantee of a great night.
Aoibheann and Declan Devlin are amongst the most profiled traditional musicians in Ireland.
Fiddle-player Aoibheann, who is also accomplished on the Irish Harp, and her husband Declan, on guitar and vocals, have both performed at the Flax Mill before but never as a duo.
The highlight of the concert is likely to be the return of Isabel Neuenfeldt. After last year’s incredible performance by Berlin’s No.1 singer, accordionist and performer, the organisers felt it was a must to have her back at the festival.
Sal Hanvey, the daughter of iconic photographer and radio-presenter Bobby Hanvey, also known as “the Rambling Man” and a talented Irish singer for many years, will be performing.
She is bringing along one of the real outstanding guitarists on these shores, Paddy Anderson, one of the all-time greats on the Spanish flamenco guitar.
Mill owner Marion Baur said: “I think we can safely say this is going to be top-of-the-range music, poetry and crack.
“More than a quarter of a century with many of the greats of Irish, and indeed music from all over the world, performing on our little stage makes it difficult to keep the balance between much loved returners and new artists. I think the 26th Yard Fest makes for a very good mix of both.”
