THE final of the second of Ecclesville’s showjumping leagues for 2022 was held on April 15 and it was again very competitive. The qualified competitors were definitely up for the challenge of Seamus McCaffrey’s courses as they twisted and turned to achieve the fastest times possible!
With this being the second of the leagues for 2022 and the second opportunity to get points on the Super League Leader Board, the top six in each class also won valuable points. In December 2022 each class, from 60cm through to 1m, there will be a perpetual trophy awarded to the rider and horse combination with the most points accumulated over the leagues.
The spectators were treated to the obligatory thrills and spills plus great displays of showjumping as the competitors had to try to be both careful and speedy to negotiate the course!
The 60cm class saw a new name for the Leader Board with Molly Lee and Teddy claiming the red rosette and Sophie Johnston riding Speedy were a very close second.
The winner of the 70cm class and the 80cm class was the on-form Tess Wallace riding the very speedy Elvis. The 90cm class was then won by Sarah Fleming riding her lovely pony, Sahara.
The organisers would like to take this opportunity thank all the competitors who supported this league. Also sincere thanks to Seamus McCaffrey, Course Builder and to Jennifer Leonard who assisted in the judges’ box. Thanks also to Eurospar, Fintona who sponsored the Easter eggs which were a great hit with the winners!
n The next league for 2022 is scheduled to start on Friday, May 20 at 6.30pm.
