STEPHEN and Jean McCol-lam, of the Carmavy flock, hosted this year’s Texel Club Open Night recently at their family farm at Nutts Corner, Crumlin.
The Carmavy flock is no stranger to the sheep breeding world, recognised for its contribution to the pedigree Texel breed and commercial sheep industry and it attracted a good crowd to the event from across Northern Ireland.
The event provided breeders and potential breeders an opport-unity to view the exceptional Carmavy flock with a preview of this year’s sale gimmers and ram lambs which will be available during the forthcoming sale season. Visitors had a chance to catch up before the busy sales season begins and enjoy some stockjudging and a barbecue with a bouncy castle providing entertainment for the younger breeders.
The event was kindly sponsored by a number of businesses that provided items for the charity auction in aid of prostate cancer research at Queen’s University.
A massive thank you is extended on behalf of the McCollam family and the NI Texel Sheep Breeders’ Club to those who sponsored the event, contributed to the auction, the bidders and buyers and those who made charitable contributions.
It is a credit to the McCollam family and the success of the event that a donation of £4,196 will be made for prostate cancer research.
