The world’s largest apple

Twenty-two-year-old Pat Selfe of Tunbridge Well, Kent, holding what is claimed to be the world’s largest apple. In her other hand is a normal sized apple.

The giant apple – a Bramley weighing nearly 2 and two fifth lb and about 22” in circumference – was grown by Kent farmer Mr David Winch, of Brook Farm, Marden, near Maidstone, Kent.

It was judged the winner in a competition organised at this year’s Commercial Fruit Show held at Marden.
