The results of the club’s annual herd competition, sponsored by Northern Counties Co-op Ltd, were announced at the event.

Judge Gayle Bersey, from the long-established six-cow Lynher Valley Herd in Cornwall, said she was honoured to be invited to Northern Ireland: “I’ve had a very enjoyable few days, with an opportunity to see spectacular cattle, and sample fabulous hospitality.

“I was particularly impressed with the consistency of the herds, especially the larger herds. I liked everything I saw, but the bull calf class gave me the most trouble. It featured a number of strong calves, but my first prize winner boasts length and style, and is one to watch in the future.”

Ms Bersey awarded the trophy for the best overall calf to the heifer calf class winner Coolermoney Lady Heather V935, from the Parke family’s herd at Strabane. ‘’This is sweet and stylish calf with a great future ahead of her,” she said.
