TV star throws weight behind NI Climate Change Act

NATURALIST and TV presenter Chris Packham has joined RSPB NI in encouraging an ambitious Climate Change Act for Northern Ireland.

He has thrown his weight behind the wildlife charity’s campaign to Revive Our World, which is demanding an ambitious net zero Climate Change Act before the end of this Assembly term ahead of the 2022 election.

Mr Packham said: “It is vital Northern Ireland passes its first ever Climate Change Act this Assembly term.

“It has been over 10 years since the UK Climate Change Act was introduced,

however Northern Ireland are the only part of the UK and Ireland without any climate legislation.

“On the Global Day of Action thousands of people gathered in Belfast demanding political leaders act urgently to pass an ambitious Bill, that addresses both the nature and climate emergency, to help us #ReviveOurWorld.”

RSPB NI’s Revive Our World campaign has been working to protect precious habitats by campaigning for targets in law for natures restoration and an ambitious net-zero Climate Change Act.
