MASSIVE thanks are extended to everyone who supported the first Two-Phase of the year at Hazeldene, Ballynahinch on Sunday, May 29 and what a day it was. Andrew Napier was a busy man, as always, in the preceding week!

Long hours were put in on the run up to the day, getting all the details polished – especially by events secretary, Julie Ann Owens, who managed a huge number of calls and texts on the run up to it, with a massive 167 entries!
An eight-hour shift on the day of the competition from 8.30am until 5.30pm watching and marking competitors was no mean feat, but was managed beautifully by Helen Scott, Jenny McKibben, Emma Louise, Lynsey Napier-Sneddon, Louise Medland, Megan Kelly and Jenny and all those who helped in between!
The new 60cm class was definitely a big success, with 17 competitors of all ages giving a two-phase a go for their first time. In the words of their show jumping judge Donna Quail, it was “heart warming to watch”.
This class had their very own separate arena on sand for show jumping, followed by a smaller field for their cross-country of 11 jumps, ranging in height up to 60cm but mainly slightly below, with lots of up and down hill to gain experience of riding in a field. This was kindly judged by Megan Carson and team.
Thanks must go to ‘Mother Hens’ Marian Turley and Hazel Napier for their repeated coffee and scone runs.
