Williamson shows hisun-’miss’-takeable future potential at Hagans Croft

SATURDAY, May 8 saw the second leg of Hagans Croft’s Spring back to show jumping league being held. Only the true hardened horse enthusiasts turned out for the early classes, as the weather forecast was not what you would expect in May. Wind and rain were a constant battle for competitors in the cross-pole through to the 60cm classes, however that did not dampen competitors’ spirits, with nine double clears in the cross-pole class, setting Maisie Elliott and ‘Moonlight’ up well for the win in the 50cm class.

Alex Helmsley and ‘Vinnie’ took the fastest time in the 60cm class to bring home the red ribbon, with Melanie Talbot and ‘Calypso’ taking the red ribbon for the second consecutive week in the 70cm class in the fastest time of thee day – 17.07 seconds!

The rain and wind passed and the sun came out for the 80cm class, where Zara Smyth and ‘Charlie’ did it again! The pair took home the red ribbon for the second week in a row, followed by Ryan Williamson and ‘Missy’, who took home the blue ribbon. Ryan, who has only been riding since August 2020, has really found his niche and is one to watch in the future, as he stormed home with the red ribbon in the 90cm class in a time of 18.46 seconds!

It is hoped the pair will return to see out the league, as Hagans Croft would love to be apart of their journey to success!

There was no-one to take on the 1.10m class, therefore the 1m class was the final class of the day. The course proved testing, with unfortunate pole dropping, leaving the top two competitors going through with four faults each.

It was down to who completed the speed section of the course over fences nine to 12 in the fastest time. That was Daisy Gillespie and ‘Caebryn Flying Wild’ in a time of 19.73 seconds – well done to them!
