SATURDAY, September 26, saw a working ploughing day take place at Ballyquintin, near Portaferry, in County Down.
Six enthusiasts gathered together to plough stubble ground with classic tractors and ploughs on land belonging to Michael Braniff.
Ken Cooke brought three tractors and ploughs along to Ballyquintin, including a Muir-Hill 111 driven by Richard McDonald, a County 1454 driven by Brian Dempster and a County Super Four.
John and Stephen Mageean had their Ford TW 15 series 11 and County 1174 present. Rounding of the group was Sydney Scott with his County 1164.
Kverneland proved to be the most popular choice of plough on the day, with Sanderum and Ransome ploughs also being used at Ballyquintin.
As is the normal nowadays, social distancing rules were observed. Everyone enjoyed the day in this very picturesque part of County Down on the Ards peninsula, with views of the Irish Sea one side and the Mourne Mountains on the other.
All present would like to thank Michael Braniff for hosting the ploughing day.
