THE second leg of the Young Event Horse Series Dublin Horse Show qualifiers was hosted by Jim and Bronagh Stevenson at Tullylish on Wednesday, July 6. This Series is designed to prepare and select four and five-year-old event horses to be showcased at Dublin Horse Show in August. There is also a qualifier for Junior/ Young Riders run in this series to give young and upcoming riders a chance to compete at this level and is proving to be increasing in popularity.
The event was well supported, with 86 horses competing over the three categories and the quality and standard of horses produced was extremely high, with the four-year-old section being the largest this year.
The competitors had the opportunity to run over a beautifully presented and flowing track, designed and built by Adam Stevenson, where all the horses had the opportunity to gain confidence with a run through the water earlier on their course before attempting a small drop in later before finishing.
All tracks in the series are designed to incorporate elements, which the event horse will encounter later in their careers, hopefully at four and five-star level in the future.
As ever, the Stevenson family would like to thank all those attending and, in particular, the volunteers and judges, without whom these events would not be possible.
