Young farmers eagerly await an opportunity to showcase talents

Festival New MB Farm

EARLIER this year audiences were treated to 13 performances across three evenings from Young Farmers’ Clubs across the Province. The Young Farmers Arts Festival, sponsored by the NFU Charitable Trust, is one of the association’s most competitive competitions.

Each of the 14 clubs entered performed a short drama piece which members skilfully wrote and produced themselves.

The performances were judged by independent adjudicators Caoimhe and Jessica from Theatre NI, who looked at the content, presentation, technical competence, audience appeal and general effect.

The category awards go to the following:

Most Amusing Moment – Randalstown YFC;

Most Imaginative Theme – Finvoy YFC;

Best Choral Piece – Kilraughts YFC;

Best Choreography – Kilraughts YFC;

Most Innovative musical moment – Garvagh YFC.

Unfortunately, the five clubs, Spa YFC, Kilraughts YFC, Randalstown YFC, Lisnamurrican YFC and Finvoy YFC, who successfully made it through to perform at the Arts Festival Gala at Milliennium Forum, will have to wait until lockdown restrictions ease before YFCU can hold the event and announce the Outstanding Performance of the Night.
