Young Stock Sale at Cavan: Well bred, well turned out and well sold

IF first impressions are made in 15 seconds, then good first impressions were the order of the day at the Young Stock Sport Horse sale at Cavan on Thursday, November 21.

This sale surely kept pace with similar sales in September and October. The Premier foal section was definitely a draw for buyers and there was the added attraction of some extremely well bred and well turned out two-year-olds and foals in the regular part of the sale, where some excellent prices were achieved.

SOUGHT AFTER: Lot 285, a grey filly foal by ‘Glen Wood Cornet’ made a very respectable price of €7,500 at the Young Stock Sport Horse sale at Cavan. (FW48-578NN)

The average price shows a €300 rise on the same sale last year, with 30% more Lots changing hands.

TOP PRICES

Top priced Young Stock were:

Lot 212 – Two-year-old bay gelding by ‘Ard VDL Douglas’ – €8,500;

Lot 285 – grey filly foal by ‘Glen Wood Cornet’ – €7,500;

Lot 256A – bay colt foal by ‘Balou du Rouet’ – €7,200;

Lot 256 – brown colt foal by ‘Narcos II’ – €7,000;

Lot 250 – bay gelding foal by ‘Sligo Candy Boy’ – €6,900;

Lot 303 – grey colt foal by ‘Malito de Reve’ – €6,600.
